The Body of the Divine:
Tantra, Ayurveda, and the Living Soul of South India
— ✦ —
A Jungian Encounter with the Soul of South India
If Vedanta is the head of the Hindu tradition and the Bhagavata Purana its heartbeat, then Tantra is its body — the tradition that refuses to leave the flesh behind in the quest for the divine. In February 2027, we journey to the lush, sacred landscape of South India — the ancient root from which Tantra, Ayurveda, and the living arts of body and soul first flowered — to explore the Tantric vision that the body is not an obstacle to transcendence but its very vehicle.
Through the lens of analytical psychology, we will trace how the Tantric path — with its 112 meditation doorways, its Kundalini ascent from matter to spirit, and its radical insistence that what is in the body is in the cosmos — illuminates Jung’s own conviction that individuation occurs not by transcending life but by living it more fully.
From the historic shores of Cochin to the misty tea plantations of Munnar and the tranquil backwaters of Kumarakom, this journey weaves together temple ritual, Ayurvedic healing, and the embodied wisdom of India’s oldest continuous living civilization.
